My Favorite Looks From NYFW – SS18

3 Favorite Collections:

Tom Ford: Tom Ford’s ultra edgy and chic collection is every “IT” girl’s go to. From the oversize shoulders, the sleek leather, pleated dresses, belted utilitarian looks and denim suits. This collection gave you a little bit of everything but somehow tied it all together. Loved the array of colors and textured used in this collection as well.

Brandon Maxwell: Brandon Maxwell figured out a way to make the all time favorite classic leopard print new and fresh. His use of green and ivory combined with this print took it to new levels. I also loved his use of colors and silhouettes. He was able to show just the right amount of skin in the right places to make a fully covered look with sexy.

Carolina Herrera: This is literally my favorite collection. Carolina Herrara was able to find a way to make heavier fabrics and oversize prints look chic and elegant. I also loved the printed fur (faux) floor length coats. She created a new look for chambray by creating new silhouettes and adding details like multi-colored oversize buttons. The colorful prints she used complemented the collection and also made it unique. She was also able to make the fabrics still accentuate the waist by and a simple detail using wide belts.

3 Favorite Shoe Looks:

Jason Wu: Jason Wu did a great job with keeping the shoes in his collection, simple yet interesting. He brought a trend back I haven’t seen in years. The strappy caged shoes came in different colors and heights. This shoe style paired extremely well with the elegant and chic collection.

Markus Lupfer: I love how Markus Lupfer created a detailed strappy heel in each color for the colors in his collection. By simple changing the ankle detail on the shoe, it gave it a completely different look, while still keeping it completely cohesive. These heels are fun and flirty and remind me of my favorite shoe designer Sophia Webster.

Oscar de la Renta: Oscar de la Renta gave us an update to the lucite heel and basic pump. The collection added his signature on each of the heel. This little update, elevates the shoes so much. de la Renta also created an added detail on the lucite pump by added a painted color toe. He also added a lipstick stilettos so the pumps which also amped them up a bit. I loved these shoes just because sometimes less is more, and his signature gave these shoes the added ump to take the collection to the next level.

3 Favorite Hair Looks:

Tom Ford: I had to chose his collection again because I loved that he used pixie cuts for all the straight hair ladies and a pompadour with a side part for all the curly ladies. These looks complemented the collection by being slick and simple. They gave an added statement to the collection, but did not distract or take away from it.

Phillip Plein: I love that most of his hair looks featured french braids and buns. These looks really added to the goth look of the collection. I couldn’t have seen these ladies with bouncy curls or beach waves, it would have been a disconnect. The hair was sleek with little to no loose hair and braids were crisp and long. Some of the ladies rocked a tightly under rolled bun in the front as a bang which was an added flare.

Cushnie et Ochs: I loved that these little mini top side buns looked different on each of the models but still cohesive. From the sock bun to the top knot they each worked I don’t know what it is about the sleek looks, but I am in love with them this season. The buns were able to pull hair completely away from the face and garments, so that you could focus on what the model was wearing. I loved everything about them.

These are just a few of my favorites from New York Fashion Week. What were some of yours?! Let me know i the comments!
