Top 3 Unique Boutiques in the Raleigh Area

In today’s world where so many retailers are closing their brick and mortar stores, it’s nice to find thriving gems that are still a local favorite. Where a lot of consumers now rely solely on online shopping, some people actually want to get out and shop a bit. These 3 local boutiques make that experience oh so worth it!  Each with their own uniqueness that sets them apart, while also having similarities that shows exactly why they were nominated in the first place as the place to shop in the Triangle area. Peachy Keen, Little Details and Style Finder (in no particular order), have made a true impact on their customers and are definitely worth making a visit.

Peachy Keen

“Peachy Keen in Cary is beautiful and eclectic! Donna and her family run business is amazing. They are warm and welcoming and offer so many trendy new items as well as estate jewelry. It’s truly a special place,” says customer Catt Fleetwood.

Peachy Keen was started about 6 years ago, daughters Jen and Karly Hankin, both decided to come back home and expand the family business. Joint Venture Jewelry, the family’s original business, was started in 1998 by parents Donna and Lee Hankin with estate jewelry on consignment. Joint Venture Jewelry sales engagement rings, vintage jewelry and more. The store has been around for almost 20 years.

Peachy Keen, meaning beautiful woman, strives to create the ultimate shopping experience for a mom and daughter to be able to shop together. The idea behind this came from Donna doing just that with Jen and Karly growing up, but feeling like most stores only catered to either or age group and not both.

One of the things Peachy Keen prides themselves in and feels they receive the most support for is carrying and partnering with local and charitable brands. Some of those brands include Kendra Kist Jewelry, Headbands of Hope, and TOMS. The store also hosts charitable events throughout the year, the next one being “Viva La Peachy Keen: A Spring Interactive Fashion Experience” on April 25th benefiting Interact of Wake County.

Peachy Keen tries to keep affordable clothing, items are priced anywhere from $60-300, with in season sale items. The boutique covers sizes XS to XL, featuring only one of each size for exclusivity. Some of the other brands Peachy Keen carries are Arrata, MuMu, Velvet, and Saxx, an underwear line for men.

They also carry a great denim line with an arrange of brands like Paige, that work with multiple shapes and sizes.

“We’re a store that’s geared towards fun and funky,” says Donna.

Donna truly believes people shop with them because of the family atmosphere and their charitable work.

Join Peachy Keen’s for VIva La Peachy Keen: A Spring Interactive Fashion Experience on April 21th at 7pm.

Little Details:

Little Details, a Garner boutique, named “Best New Boutique in the Triangle” by Indy Magazine, started in 2013 as an online monogramming shop on Etsy. The business began to grow and eventually opened a store front here in Garner in April 2017. The boutique carries both gift items and women’s apparel and accessories.

“Pay It Ford” is an initiative that began due to a personal story of owner Jessica’s son Ford. Ford was born premature and had a stay of 160 days in the Ronald McDonald House in Chapel Hill. During this time Jessica and her family thought the boutique may suffer, but instead had complete customer support that allowed her boutique to not only survive but thrive. Jessica made it her mission to hosts multiple monthly fundraising events to “Pay It Ford” giving back a percentage of sales to charitable organizations and local schools.

“We always make sure that we’re continuing to pass around the blessings that we’ve been given,” says Jessica.

Jessica continues by saying, “we’re not in the store only to serve our customers, we’re really here to be a part of the community.”

Jessica’s goal is to allow anyone that walks into Little Details to be able to find something even if it’s not a clothing item, but maybe a gift for someone else or something for their home. Immediately upon walking in to the store, your eyes are drawn to some of the popular and colorful brands the boutique carries, like Scouts, Lilly Pulitzer, and Kate Spade. Gifts and clothes range anywhere from $3 to $130 and sizes from S to XXXL. Southern Frock, Simply Southern, Buddy Love, Sneak Peek, are just a few of the apparel brands found in the boutique. Also found are specialty brands like Escapada, a customizable brand, and Mudpie, which carries a “Mommy and Me” collection.

Little Details also believes in supporting the community and carries multiple brands that have some type of charitable give-back, like Bridgewater Candles and Design For Joy.

Join Little Details for their 1 year anniversary event April 21st, the event will last all day.

Style Finder:

Mary Michele Nidiffer (Michele), started out as a Style Coach over 20 years ago. Based on a push from husband and business partner, Jim Nidiffer, she decided to expand into carrying apparel and accessories. One of her goals was to help other mothers like herself find their personal style again after having kids. Style Finder is a full-service women’s boutique that offers personal style services. The goal is to help women find the right outfit based on who they are, their body type, their style, etc. Specializing in helping women know what to wear and how to wear it. The boutique focuses on what Michele considers “upscale casual” for everyday wear.

“Style isn’t so much about your age, it’s about dressing for who you are,” says Michele.

Michele created a “Style Finder Assessment” that helps clients understand how to shop and build their capsule wardrobe. The assessment offers a client adjectives to help describe their personal style to be able to shop best for each client. Michele believes in educating her client to be able to shop smarter. Her goal is to empower more women and help women feel more beautiful.

Michele says, “if a client walks out and says ‘you made me feel beautiful today!’, I know we’ve done what we’re supposed to be doing.”

“The stylists are fabulous at helping you find the perfect clothing for your body type and your personal style. And, they are lovely,” say client Bobbi Vinson.

Style Finder recently moved into a new area in North Hills last year on a whim, into the exact spot Michele wanted prior to knowing the space was even available. Style Finder will be soon celebrating their 1 year anniversary in North Hills and 3 year anniversary of being open. The boutiques host all types of events like Girls Nights Out, Trunk Shows, and a special series called “Wine, Women and Style”.

Style Finder also works with local charities like Make A Wish Foundation. A client can even be featured in a picture hanging in their store as part of the décor.

Some of the brands Style Finder carries are Simply Noelle, Karen Kane, Paige, and French Kandy with prices ranging from $70 to $350. Michele loves carrying basics and essentials but also pieces that offer a bit of detail that sets it apart.

Join Style Finder’s at their next event “April in Paris” on April 21st, the event will last all day.
