Are #Snakebottoms the New, RED?!

Exotics by Cedrick F/W 2019 – New York Fashion Week

Exotics by Cedrick Fall 2019 show was inspired by “music, art and design” and #SnakeBottoms, his brand hashtag, is “all about elevating people’s inner person through their “sole,” says the designer himself, Cedrick McDonald.

In an standing only mix and mingle presentation form, models strutted their soles down a rose petal lined red carpet. Combined with covers of some of your favorite R&B tracks sung soulfully by Justin Bishop, who was also featured wearing and debuting the up and coming mens’ line from Exotics by Cedrick.

The show focused on heels featuring snakeskin printed soles with Swarovski crystals, complemented with elegant and vintage fashion pieces to help enhance the shoe design. Models walked the red carpet and posed, standing on a platform to elevate the shoes to allow visibility to all guests. The heels featured luxury colors like gold and wine and also each offered a different detail. From your everyday wine pump, to a white mesh covered sandal with a back zipper detail to a gold pump with a ankle strap featuring a sparkly bow. The heels were stunning and there was a heel for any and every occasion.

Later revealing the newest addition to the collection by celebrity guest, Dutchess Lattimore (@dutchessofink) previously of VH1’s Black Ink Crew. Dutchess revealed her eponymy, a black thigh high boot featuring a snake print detailed wrapped around from the ankle up.

Dutchess on the collection: “I love the collection. To see that us as melanated people create these amazing designs that people love to walk around in- that’s the reason for this. I think that in our culture right now, it’s so many culture vultures taking away our hidden gems that it’s just really beautiful to see people from all different walks of life here to support and they’re supporting us.“

When asked about how she felt her namesake shoe represented her, she says, “the Dutchess personifies me, it’s exactly something that I would 100% wear. As women, we want to feel that our shoes exude the confidence that we possess, so when your footwork is right, everything else is right.”

From the bow details, ribbon laced, mesh, snake print and Swarovski crystals soles, the collection was a testament to true femininity and luxury. Move over Louboutin, snake bottom soles just may be the new red!
